Today, the Quality Assurance Unit, in cooperation with the Training Unit at the Faculty of Commerce, Tanta University, organized a workshop entitled Course Description (Practical Cases) for the faculty members and the college’s supporting staff, in the presence of Professor Dr. Yasser Al-Jarf, Dean of the College, and Professor Dr. Hani Mahareq, Vice Dean of the College for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs. Professor Dr. Khaled Ibrahim, Director of the Quality Assurance Unit, Dr. Maisa Ali, Director of the College’s Training Unit, and a number of faculty members and the college’s supporting staff, at ten in the morning in the college’s conference hall.
Lectured by Professor Dr. Mohamed Shehata Khattab, professor of cost accounting at the college, the workshop presented the concept of describing academic courses as a constitution between the professor and the student that the student must be informed of at the beginning of the study.
It also discussed the relationship of the course description to the program description and the program report, a review of the learning outcomes (ILOS) that the course aims to achieve, and the components of the course description model according to Model 12 for course description issued by .the National Authority for Accreditation and Quality Assurance
The workshop also covered practical examples of how to complete Form 12 for the description of two courses, in addition to how to prepare the matrices attached to the description of each course.
The workshop concluded with important recommendations, including the necessity of using specific verbs when determining the learning outcomes for each course and taking into account the programdescription when describing courses.
